It was another crazy week in our classroom! Students got their first taste of Exam Question Three when discussing what it means to have grit. I have to say, I'm very proud of the first round! We also had a blast on Friday with a taste, so to speak, of descriptive writing. Each student was given an oreo (off-brand) and instructed to write three descriptive and sensory-detail-heavy paragraphs. I can't tell you how hard we laughed. Apparently, off-brand oreos are pretty disgusting. I got a kick out of reading our students' essays this weekend. Below you'll find some examples of writing. Those kids sure do have some things to say about my fake oreos. . .
In the mean time, I appreciate your patience as I begin the grading process. Now that we can officially log into PowerSchool, I can finally enter grades, but it may take me the rest of this week to be caught up entirely. I apologize. I also encourage you to have your students submit posts for this blog. It is a place for them to show off their skills and talents, not just what we do in here. So write a story or a poem, draw a character from a short story we're reading, write a review of your DIRT book and submit it to Ms. Holcomb!
